  • Intensive four-week programme consisting of five individual and five group therapy sessions per week
  • Alcohol rehab under an alias, with utmost importance placed on privacy and discretion
  • Informal atmosphere and tranquil location in the spa resort of Bad Brückenau, offering the necessary calm in which to achieve your treatment goals

How long does withdrawal take at our alcohol rehab clinic?

Therapy at our alcohol rehab clinic lasts at least 28 days, with detox usually complete in a maximum of two to three weeks. Talking therapy commences simultaneously as soon as the patient is physically and mentally able to do so. Patients with severe accompanying conditions may benefit from a longer period of therapy.

How severe are the physical symptoms?

Inpatient alcohol withdrawal for alcoholism is usually very gentle thanks to support from medication, the dose of which is adjusted individually to the severity of the withdrawal symptoms. Distraneurin or oxazepam is administered to alleviate the withdrawal symptoms that affect the nervous system; antiepileptic drugs such as carbamazepine are used to prevent convulsions. Supplemental therapeutic methods such as neuroelectric stimulation (NES) and acupuncture likewise help to relieve such symptoms.

What are the drawbacks of quitting alcohol abruptly?

Quitting alcohol abruptly, i.e. cold turkey, is not only very distressing but can also rapidly become a life-threatening situation. Going cold turkey at home can result in seizures or delirium tremens (DTs), which cannot always be treated in a timely manner and at worst can result in death. In an inpatient facility with medical supervision (medically assisted withdrawal), the potential complications can be treated accordingly, and the physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms alleviated with medication.

What happens if I have accompanying conditions?

In many cases, alcohol dependence is associated with accompanying psychological issues such as depression and/or anxiety. When quitting under professional guidance at our clinic, such conditions can be managed accordingly by our doctors and therapists. A ping-pong effect between addiction and accompanying disorders is therefore minimised.

Who will know about your alcohol rehab?

Discretion is our highest priority. You decide yourself who should know about your alcohol addiction and therapy. It is therefore guaranteed that as few people as possible will be aware of your stay at our alcohol rehab clinic. If you wish, we can give you an alias by which you will be addressed by our staff and your fellow patients.

Are family members involved in the alcohol rehab therapy?

The involvement of family members is important and is taken very seriously at our alcohol rehab clinic. For this purpose, we hold seminars for relatives every month along with an individual family meeting with the patient’s therapists during the third or fourth week. The goal is to create an environment best suited to the patient’s situation after their residential stay and to involve those who are closest to the patient.

How will I be prepared for the period that follows rehab?

So as not to encourage alcohol dependence in your domestic and social environment, we start preparing you for everyday life by way of individual and group therapy sessions as well as through a “relapse group” as soon as alcohol rehab commences. In individual cases, we coach you in standard situations that pose a risk of relapse and provide you with effective guidance for dealing with potential risks.

What if I have a “setback” during inpatient therapy?

Motivational crises when quitting alcohol are a reality for many addicts, but wherever possible you should not give up. Talk to our experienced therapists and doctors about your problems. Talking to your fellow patients can also motivate you to persevere.

Can I leave the alcohol rehab clinic during therapy?

Patients must remain in our alcohol rehab clinic during the first few days, especially if they are undergoing detox. After that, you can basically leave the clinic during the daytime in your therapy-free periods. Ultimately, we trust everyone to take personal responsibility and remain committed to their rehab. On returning to the clinic, however, you can expect to undergo alcohol and drug tests.

What leisure activities are available?

Numerous leisure activities are available on the grounds of our alcohol rehab clinic in Bad Brückenau and nearby: be it excursions to the Rhön mountains or the baroque town of Fulda, table tennis, badminton or volleyball, or wellness treatments in the neighbouring Dorint Hotel.

Successful rehab – what next?

Alcoholism is accompanied by structural changes in the brain, meaning that the condition can never be completely cured. Due to addiction memory, there will always be a craving for alcohol even after inpatient alcohol withdrawal which can only be controlled by resolutely staying sober. We want you to be in good hands after inpatient rehab and therefore work with numerous aftercare therapists and partners who can provide you with ongoing outpatient follow-up care in line with the concept of our alcohol rehab clinic.

The services provided by our private clinic are aimed mainly at private patients and direct payers. Since we can be classified as a hospital or rehabilitation facility according to Section 107 I of Book V of the German Social Code (SGB V), we meet the criteria of all private health insurers, who will usually cover at least the costs for detoxification. We can gladly provide advice and support you with your application.
